J Pasila is a Brooklyn based artist working in photography, installation and drawing. She graduated from the Ontario College of Art in Toronto with a four year scholarship and continued her studies between the Department of Architecture and Department of Video at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, Germany.
Her work has been shown in Europe and North America, most notably within the Chautauqua National Exhibition of American Art, juried by Robert Storr and at the Plane Space Gallery in NYC. Her photos were included in ‘Viewing MacDowell’ at the Sharon Arts Center Gallery, NH, on the occasion of the Colony’s Centennial. She is a fellow of the Macdowell Colony (2009 and 2004) and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (2009 and 2007) and the recipient of numerous grants and awards including a Leon Levy Foundation Grant and the Berkshire Taconic Foundation Artist Resource Trust. She is a 2010 Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts Studio Program finalist.
